'Jump' at Milwaukie City Hall
With a hop, skip and a 'JUMP' one of my favorite sculptures is now on exhibit in front of the City Hall in Milwaukie, Oregon. It will be on display for the coming year with a grand opening this Friday, October 7th at 6pm. Join me as the City of Milwaukie welcomes new sculptures to their sculpture garden.
Invite to Big Rock Garden
After applying to this call I was thrilled to be invited to show not just one but three of my sculptures at the Big Rock Garden - Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit. They've asked for 'Jump', 'Anima', and 'Familia.' So at the end of the month I'm going to borrow a trailer and hit the road for Bellingham Washington. These pieces will be on display for about five months. So if you are heading North to Canada be sure to stop by it's a lovely park.
Opening at Maryhill
It's always such an accomplishment for an artist to get to the opening reception and see a their work on display for the public. With my friends and family by my side we were able to tour some of the amazing sculpture on display at Maryhill Museum of Art and see my 'Familia' in its new home for the Summer.
The Maryhill Museum of Art Invites Mi 'Familia'
Lee Musgrave, curator of The Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale, WA, has nvited me to be part of the summer Outdoor Sculpture Invitational. Running from May 16th to October 4th it's a wonderful opportunity to participate in a group exhibition that draws a wide audience to the Museum grounds and shows. I of course, said 'Yes'.
Jump Sprung a Sponsor
One of the great things about the Arts Council of Lake Oswego's Gallery Without Walls is the community support it elicits. Each sculpture gets a unique sponsor. For my sculpture 'Jump' Pacific West Bank has offered to look after the care and maintence of 'Jump' during the two years it's on display in downtown Lake Oswego.
Sculpture Build Off
Reed Rothschild invited me to be a part of the 'Sculpture Build-Off'. This creative design and sculpt project is in its third year. Each artist is given three days, ample materials and a space in which to design and fabricate a finished sculpture. After scaling my sketches and maquettes I took the metal to BBC Steel to be cut.
With all the parts in place and the help of Lee Imonen we welded, grinded, and had a great experience among fellow sculptors. We welded, grinded, and had a great experience among fellow sculptors. With great pleasure 'Familia was born a mere three days later.
